Lens Replacement (RLE) FAQ’S

Does RLE hurt?

We are happy to offer all of our patients virtually painless vision correction procedures. The Aurora LASIK team will provide you with everything you need to be comfortable throughout your procedure and recovery.

Before your procedure we will administer some anesthetic drops that will fully numb the eye before surgery begins. Your procedure should be virtually painless.

Is RLE safe?

Complications are very rare, however with everything in life nothing is risk free. Refractive Lens Exchange is one of the safest medical procedures you can have, however it comes with a slightly higher risk because it is a more invasive surgery compared to other laser eye surgeries.

When making the decision to have RLE,  make sure you always do your research and choose a surgeon who is experienced.

When will my vision be fixed and when will I be able to go back to work?

RLE is a very quick procedure, only taking about 10 minutes. Some mild discomfort and blurred vision are completely normal right after surgery. Your vision will gradually improve over the next few days to weeks after your procedure.

Will I need reading glasses?

Good news! RLE corrects the need for reading glasses and bifocals! RLE also results in better night vision and even eliminates the possibility of developing cataracts in the future!

What if my doctor told me I wasn’t a candidate for RLE?

If you have been told in the past that you are not a candidate for Refractive Lens Exchange not to worry!
