Listen to Chanteria talk about the importance of self care.
Hi everyone, I’m Chanteria. I am the patient counselor here at Aurora LASIK, and I just wanted to take a little bit of time today to talk about what I do here at Aurora, what I’m passionate about, and what we’re passionate about here at Aurora LASIK. So I am actually the patient counselor, and what that involves is I get to be able to take the time to sit down and talk to patients, educate them about their surgery options, and also really be there to walk them through the whole process of getting to surgery. The best part of this job is that I am able to take the time to really get to know people, what their motivation is, and really make that really special heart to heart connection with our patients. That is one thing that we really hold dear to us all here at Aurora LASSIK. But first I thought I’d give a little bit of a background about myself and what lead me here to Aurora LASIK.
So I have been a master aesthetician for 12 years. The thing I really loved about it is being able to make people feel great about themselves and really just teaching pope how important it is to take that time for ourselves. Life is crazy busy right now and it’s so easy for us to put ourselves on the back burner, but I feel like, with everything that is going on these days in our world, it’s really nice for us to take a time to really take care of ourselves. So naturally, when I can to Aurora LASIK, it was a perfect fit. Yes we do surgery here, but there is so much more to that. Some of the stories that I get to hear from patients on a daily basis really effect me as well. Like the mom at home who has so many kids that she is homeschooling, and she doesn’t have to deal with the glasses and the contacts and all that goes into it. Also all of our healthcare workers, including ourselves, who are dealing with the masks, wearing glasses, fogged up lenses - things we never had to deal with before. It’s really making people time to think what could I do to better my life and to make things a little bit easier. So that’s why I fell that patients have decided to take that next step when it comes to self care or improving themselves.
Of course most people thinks getting rid of glasses is something for vanity or aesthetic, but it is so much more than that. It’s being able to have that freedom to wake up in the morning and go, or for that busy mom who has to get up in the middle of the night and go. You don’t have to worry about finding your glasses, stumbling through the hallways trying to get to your kids. Or for our healthcare workers, who are under so much pressure right now, to not have to worry about their glasses fogging up and just being able to focus on patient care and all that that they do - that’s a big deal. Yes of course it is nice to not have to worry about wearing glasses everyday, but it is, again, so much more than that.
